Certificate in Public Works Inspection
This certificate program is designed to prepare students for entry-level and promotional positions in the public works sector and heavy civil construction as well as general engineering type projects. Job opportunities include:
- public works inspector,
- public works maintenance worker,
- lead worker,
- and other supervisory positions.
Instruction in an overview of the inspector’s role and responsibilities; including Portland cement and asphaltic concrete, soils and trenching, base and subgrades, concrete footings, structural and reinforcing steel, Cal-OSHA requirements, inspection reporting, and recordkeeping is emphasized in the coursework.

MATH 150 is degree applicable with or without MATH 050. If taken with MATH 050, only the units for MATH 150 will be counted towards the degree.
Certificate of Achievement Level Student Learning Outcomes
Students completing the Public Works Inspection Certificate of Achievement will:
- Evaluate and analyze the various elements of a public works construction project for conformance to applicable project contract documents related to quality of work, safety and contract documentation.
