Catalog Course Description
Vocational nursing students will explore the basic facts of human anatomy and the principles of physiology with selected clinical examples. 27 lecture hours.
Course Objectives
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of how the body functions in health and common diseases.
- Define medical terms related to the various anatomical and physiological components of each organ system.
- Explain and discuss in order of increasing complexity the levels of organization of the structure of an organism and the relationship of its parts.
- Compare and contrast each body system assigned and relate how each is integrated to function as a whole.
- Differentiate between normal and abnormal functions of each organ system.
- Through collaboration, develop nursing interventions and a plan of care based on clinical judgement model that relates to individual client's problems.
- Recognize diseases and injuries that adversely affect the structures and functioning of each body system.
