Catalog Course Description

This course focuses on short haircuts. The course will include pixie cuts, crew cuts, undercuts, graduation, disconnected cuts, square layers, fades, and tapers, using shear, clipper, clipper-over-comb, and shear-over-comb techniques. 20 lecture hours, 32 lab hours.

Course Objectives

  • Analyze hair growth patterns
  • Identify and select appropriate tools and equipment needed for select haircuts.
  • Demonstrate the California Board of Barbering and Cosmetology standards in safety, sanitation, and disinfection.
  • Perform the latest short haircutting techniques and styles.
  • Recognize and recommend appropriate styling products based on each hair style and cut.
