Catalog Course Description
A continuation of body structure and function for the vocational nurse with clinical case studies. 27 lecture hours.
Course Objectives
- Demonstrate knowledge of theoretical concepts of body structure and function in the clinical area with clients.
- Identify normal and abnormal functioning of given organ systems.
- Explain the effects of hyposecretion and hypersecretion of hormones.
- Explain the importance of cardiac function and the importance of proper electrolyte functioning as it applies to the sodium ion pump.
- Explain all aspects of the immune system, how it functions and how important the immune system is to the overall health of an individual.
- Explain the effects of enzymes and electrolytes within the human body and their effects when they function abnormally.
- Identify the organ system changes on the human body as the aging process occurs.
- Identify and describe the disorders of each body system.
