Catalog Course Description
Introduction to theatre as an art form involving the inter-related processes of all elements of theatre with the primary focus being on script analysis. Includes the study of plays throughout history with emphasis on dramatic analysis and cultural significance. 54 lecture hours.
Course Objectives
- more thoroughly analyze scripts that would enhance a production
- identify central themes and imagery in a given script
- connect the social, political, and moral values of the playwright with his times
- connect the themes and imagery to the cultural climate of the times
- analyze a script?s structure and character development
