Catalog Course Description
An advanced experience in ceramics is the emphasis of this course. Work on the potter's wheel and handbuilding techniques along with independent visits to craft galleries and special ceramic exhibits, research on selected topics and exploration of topical currents in clay will be investigated. Material fee. 36 lecture hours, 72 lab hours.
Course Objectives
- create a portfolio of ideas, related to ceramic design and decoration using several sources with sketches of personal adaptations and analysis
- analyze, in written form, results of research in special topics as selected by the student related to firing, glazing and decoration
- Create ceramic objects using a variety of handbuilding and throwing techniques
