Catalog Course Description
A course for students to develop individual student portfolios. Development of portfolios will include architectural Computer Generated Imagery (CGI), multimedia, other design technology techniques, free hand drawing, 2D-3D art and rendering. Students will develop knowledge of how to interview in various design professions. 45 lecture hours, 36 lab hours.
Course Objectives
- compare and contrast the differences between various design technologies
- plan a career path and educational goals
- identify the responsibilities of various design technicians and professionals
- experiment with and contrast different portfolio presentation methods.
- construct portfolios and projects relating to industry, design and architectural schools.
- compare portfolios as they relate to industry, design and architectural school standards.

- Learn and implement software used for the preparation of advanced student portfolios for transfer and job interviews.

- Prepare a resume and index for the proposed portfolio.
- Organize student projects for the portfolio from architectural, art and other design related classes. Develop specific sections with descriptions of each portfolio piece.
- Develop and prepare student personal projects and portfolios into a single coherent portfolio.
- Personal concentration of student work for job interview and transfer to architectural school. Students must take into account the distinctive requisite of each job or university program.
Lab Content
- Learn software for preparation of portfolios.
- Develop projects and portfolios to include use of state of the art computer modeling, rendering, animation and multimedia presentation techniques.
- Organize student projects for portfolios from architectural, art and other design related classes.
- Prepare personal student projects and portfolios for interviews in industry and transfer to a university.
- Finalize and critique completed resume and portfolio.
