Catalog Course Description
This course focuses on further concepts in sound reinforcement; mixing skills,
system troubleshooting, sound system design for different types of venues,
audio editing for live applications and live recording. 54 lecture hours, 72 lab hours.
Course Objectives
- Examine the role of the sound engineer
- Analyze the relationship of the sound engineer with the production team
- Analyze with budgetary limitations how to implement a sound design using available components to meet most of the production audio needs
- Evaluate venue sound system needs and design systems that provide adequate sound coverage
- Mix audio for Front of House and stage monitors for a variety of performance groups
- Experiment with a variety of microphone, console, amplifiers, and speakers
- Assemble sound cues for a laboratory show including music edits and individual and combined sound effects

Advanced Mixing Techniques
Identify technical attributes of sound systems in live performance.
Sound System Design and Implementation in various venues with the aid of Room Acoustics Software.
Sound System Design and Construction
Sound Design for Theatre including basic music/sound effects editing
Live Recording Technology
Lab Content

Sound system design and implementation for various venues
Record and edit content (music, sound effect, etc...) for production playback and event archiving.
