Catalog Course Description
An introductory class for the music major. Practice and skill development in melodic and rhythmic dictation, intervals, and sightsinging. Required of all music majors. 36 lecture hours.
Course Objectives
- aurally recognize major and minor scales
- aurally recognize diatonic intervals
- aurally recognize major and minor triads
- notate simple dictated melodies and rhythms
- sight sing simple melodies
- count rhythmic notation
