Catalog Course Description

This class is designed to develop student's "Show Choir" level to intermediate advanced status. This class includes singing, dance and movement for vocalists and rhythm section/horn accompaniment. Public performance required. 36 lecture hours, 108 lab hours.

Course Objectives

  • Communicate appropriate terms in intermediate advanced dance/movement and music.
  • Recognize, correctly sing, and execute stylistically to the show choir genre.
  • Analyze and apply theoretical knowledge of individual pieces through rehearsal /performance settings.

Major Course Content

  1. Analysis of intermediate advanced repertoire available for Show Choir Ensemble.
  2. Intermediate advanced vocal and instrumental skills in Show Choir Setting.
  3. Refinement of rehearsal practices.
  4. Refinement of performance practices.
  5. Analysis of Show Choir literature
  6. Selection of intermediate advanced repertoire for public performance.
  7. Evaluation of performance
