Catalog Course Description

This class is designed to develop student's "Show Choir" level to intermediate status. This class includes singing, dance and movement for vocalists and rhythm section/horn accompaniment. Public performance required. 36 lecture hours, 108 lab hours arranged.

Course Objectives

  • Communicate appropriate terms in intermediate dance/movement and music.
  • Recognize, correctly sing, and execute stylistically to the show choir genre.
  • Analyze and apply theoretical knowledge of individual pieces through rehearsal /performance settings.

Major Course Content

  1. Analysis of intermediate repertoire available for Show Choir Ensemble.
  2. Intermediate vocal and instrumental skills in Show Choir Setting.
  3. Implementation of rehearsal practices.
  4. Implementation of performance practices.
  5. Analysis of Show Choir literature
  6. Selection of intermediate repertoire for public performance.
  7. Evaluation of Performance

  1. Practice individual voice regimen 
  2. Practice individual choreography regimen
  3. Practice in small groups for harmony
  4. Memorize lyrics, voicings, chord progressions, arrangements
