Catalog Course Description

The scope of this course includes instruction in the fundamental principals, instrumentation and procedures of various dental specialties with emphasis on the role of the auxiliary in each specialty. 60 lecture hours, 46 lab hours.

Course Objectives

  • demonstrate knowledge of basic principles and terminology related to each dental specialty
  • demonstrate an understanding of the most common dental procedures and treatment involved with each dental specialty
  • identify the instrumentation used in dental procedures in each dental specialty
  • describe the dental assistant’s role when assisting in each dental specialty
