Catalog Course Description

This course focuses on short haircuts and barbering. The course will include fades, tapers, clipper-cutting, clipper-over-comb, and shear-over-comb techniques. Beard and mustache trims, crew cuts, flat tops, and undercuts will also be covered. 9 lecture hours, 54 lab hours.

Course Objectives

  • Analyze hair growth patterns
  • Identify and select appropriate tools and equipment needed for select haircuts.
  • Demonstrate barbering and cosmetology state standards in safety, sanitation, and disinfection.
  • Perform latest men's haircutting techniques and styles.
  • Recognize and recommend appropriate styling products based on each hair style and cut.
