Catalog Course Description
A continuation of the science, theory, professional haircoloring techniques, and procedures following COS 141. Lectures, demonstrations, and practical experience in the following areas: advanced hair coloring procedures, advanced lightening procedures, specialized color application, and corrective haircolor. 100 lecture hours, 155 lab hours.
Course Objectives
- Demonstrate the knowledge and ability to perform advanced color applications.
- Demonstrate safety, sanitation and applications according to State Board criteria.
- Comprehend the various chemicals used to perform advanced color applications: permanent, semi-permanent, demi-permanent, developers, decolorizers, color remover.
- Comprehend advanced design principles for color design: repetition, alternation, contrast, progression.
- Differentiate between the following: levels, tone, density, harmony, complementary.
- Demonstrate advanced techniques: weaving, slicing, block patterns, triangle sectioning, pattern sectioning, zones.
- Successfully analyze hair integrity and apply corrective haircolor techniques and applications.
- Develop strong communication skills regarding advanced color design.
