Catalog Course Description

This course covers technology applications commonly utilized in today's construction industry, including applications that are used in construction management processes. 36 lecture hours.

Course Objectives

  • Through assigned homework and lab work assignments, demonstrate appropriate utilization of computer technology and relevant software applications.
  • Identification of current computer trends in construction industry technology.
  • Through group projects and presentations, demonstrate appropriate use of technology-based tools and templates for a specific construction management process, including but not limited to planning, design, estimating, scheduling, cost control and/or construction documentation, as approved by instructor.

Examples of Required Writing Assignments

Write a report that addresses trends and/or the advantages and disadvantages of a particular computer-based technology in the current construction environment.

Examples of Outside Assignments

Given assigned drawings, prepare a basic EXCEL based estimate of resources typically required for the project.
