Catalog Course Description
A continuation of the science and theory of professional hairstyling techniques and procedures introduced in COS 141. Lectures, demonstrations and practical experience in the following areas: hair care, set design, thermal styling, long hair design and creative artistry in hairstyling. 120 lecture hours, 120 lab hours.
Course Objectives
- Design and create advanced hairstyles through wet/thermal and long hairstyling.
- Execute advanced techniques.
- Develop and interpret an individualized hairstyle for clients based on the principles of design.
- Consult and correctly identify hair texture and procedural applications.
- Compare and contrast tools and products needed for hair design.
- Develop skills and understanding of the necessary precautions with thermal equipment.
- Create a variety of basic and advanced long hairstyling using commonly used techniques.
- Effectively execute physical hair straightening designs for a culturally diverse market.
- Demonstrate proper safety and disinfection procedures using correct chemical agents when disinfecting tools.
