Catalog Course Description

A course designed to further the general education of all students. Students will be introduced to the visual arts through aesthetics, critique, history, and by creating art using various mediums. 36 lecture hours, 72 lab hours.

Course Objectives

  • demonstrate a knowledge of aesthetic responses based on critical thinking
  • recognize historic styles and techniques
  • analyze art based on composition, culture, and medium
  • compare and contrast stylistic movements and individual artist's styles
  • recognize and distinguish major monuments of paintings, drawings, sculptures, and architecture
  • demonstrate a knowledge of and analyze art as a non-verbal language of communication
