Certificate in Media Arts
The Media Arts Certificate of Achievement is an interdisciplinary certificate between digital art and design, photography, and journalism. The certificate is designed to provide students with opportunities to work in multiple areas of digital media. Offerings help prepare students for multiple opportunities to produce work for public consumption. Classes cover digital art, web design, photography, video, image manipulation, multimedia journalism, desktop publishing and more. Students will have access to cameras, studio photography equipment, Mac computers and design software, the Adobe Creative Cloud and more. Students will build their portfolios to prepare to begin careers as videographers, photojournalists, multimedia journalists, news page designers, web designers, digital editors and more.
Certificate of Achievement Level Student Learning Outcomes
1. Apply the use of contemporary technological tools in design, video, audio and photography to gather and disseminate news through text, imagery and graphics.
2. Develop a body of work demonstrating excellence in the technical, aesthetic and ethical aspects of multimedia production.
3. Demonstrate the ability to critically analyze media content and its influence on society.
