ADT in Film, Television and Electronic Media

The Associate in Science for Transfer Degree in Film, Television and Electronic Media is designed to develop performance skills in film, television and digital media studies. Course offerings will include aesthetics, history and production and to provide professional training at the beginning level. The Associate in Science for Transfer Degree in Film, Television and Electronic Media emphasizes a broad spectrum of experience in the creation of video productions as well as an interdisciplinary approach to film study. Students and faculty work collaboratively, creating a foundation in the aesthetic, practical, and historical study of film, television, radio and digital media. Students who complete this degree will be guaranteed admission with junior status to the California State University system, and will be given priority admission to our local CSU campus.

A.S.-Transfer Degree Level Student Learning Outcomes

Students completing the Film, Television and Electronic Media A.S.-Transfer Degree will:

  1. Analyze film, television and/or media works for formal and thematic meaning.
  2. Demonstrate beginning level operational aspects of film, television, and/or media production and postproduction technologies.
  3. Integrate critical thinking skills in an interdisciplinary context in film, television and/or digital media.
  4. Analyze film, television and digital media in both practicum and historical contexts as they relate to equity, diversity and inclusion. 

Students receiving this transfer degree must meet the following requirements:

  1. Completion of 60 semester units or 90 quarter units that are eligible for transfer to the California State University, including both of the following:
    1. The Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC) or the California State University General Education - Breadth Requirements.
    2. A minimum of 18 semester units or 27 quarter units in a major or area of emphasis, as determined by the community college district.
  2. Obtainment of a minimum grade point average of 2.0.

ADTs also require that students must earn a "C" (or "P") or better in all courses required for the major or area of emphasis.
