Catalog Course Description
This art course is designed especially for older adults who wish to develop or enhance their drawing skills. The focus will be on drawing the human face. Students will view artwork by seven Old Masters and contemporary artists for inspiration in their own portraits of family and friends. Demonstration and instruction will include studying and drawing the human face. Students will develop perceptual skills and apply them to create original drawings from direct observation and photos. Drawings will be created by understanding the elements of art, then applying them to create a drawing. 16 lab hours.
Course Objectives
- Increase or maintain the ability to develop perceptual skills and visual arts vocabulary.
- Increase or maintain understanding and communication of visual, spatial, and drawing techniques.
- Improve or maintain creative ideas, articulate, and refine a variety of ways to create portrait drawings.
- Create an original expressive portrait drawing.
