Catalog Course Description

This course involves preparation and participation in collegiate treble chorus competitions and festivals such as the CSU Long Beach Choral Festival, the Riverside City College Choral Festival, or the Biola University Choral Festival. This course may be taken four times. Audition required. 54 lecture hours, 18 lab hours arranged.

Course Objectives

  • Provide overview for competitive collegiate treble chorus competitions
  • Learn techniques applicable to competitive collegiate treble chorus competitions
  • Apply treble chorus vocal techniques learned in rehearsal at performances

Major Course Content

  1. Development of tonal skills for competitive treble chorus environment.
  2. Development of rhythmic skills for competitive treble chorus environment.
  3. Development of reading skills for competitive treble chorus environment.
  4. Development of articulation skills for competitive treble chorus environment.
  5. Development of stylistic phrasing skills for competitive treble chorus environment.
  6. Development of musical interpretation skills for competitive treble chorus environment.
