Catalog Course Description

An overview of the World Wide Web with emphasis on design and publishing. This course utilizes various developmental tools in the design of pages to be used on the Internet for commercial or personal use. 36 lecture hours, 72 lab hours.

Course Objectives

  • utilize Adobe Dreamweaver as a Web development tool
  • utilize Adobe Photoshop as a web graphic tool
  • understand the function of FTP applications
  • import hypertext documents, manipulate and change into HTML code manually
  • import graphics, manipulate and, using tools such as Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop, produce Web side graphics
  • develop a flow chart for a series of pages to be used in conjunction with a home page
  • organize and maintain a simple and functional web site.

Research online and find ten (10) careers related to internet and web design. Include the salary base and education background that each career demands. Present your work in a three (3) page document, 1.5 line spaced and type size no larger than 11 points. Include references to all sources utilized in the research and completion of the paper.
Also:
Create a single web page to include the data collected for the assignment. Utilize the web page as a tool during your presentation of the paper.

Examples of Outside Assignments

Find the web site http://webdesign.about.com/library/bl_htmlcodes.htm and copy all of the character codes from the table and built your own corresponding table to reflect the copied codes.
Place those codes into an HTML document in such a manner as to complete the display of the result of the code.
The final page should be a table display of the special character that the code represents and the code utilized within HTML to attain the expected results. The individual cells of the table may alternate background colors to ease the translation of the data in the table.
