Catalog Course Description

The study of pre-Columbian cultures and art in Meso and South America from the early formative stage to the Spanish Conquest. 54 lecture hours.

Course Objectives

  • Demonstrate a knowledge of representative works of art and architecture of Meso and South America from the early formative stage to the Spanish Conquest.
  • Recognize the change in art styles and techniques in representative works of art and architecture from Meso and South America from the early formative stage to the Spanish Conquest.
  • Evaluate forms, functions, and the interrelationship of representative works of art and architecture from Meso and South America from the early formative stage to the Spanish Conquest.
  • Compare and be able to recognize historic and cultural styles of representative works of art and architecture from Meso and South America from the early formative stage to the Spanish Conquest.
