Certificate in Heavy Truck Maintenance
Intended for students seeking an entry level position in the medium and heavy duty truck service and repair industry. This certificate includes topics that are crucial for an entry level technician to be knowledgeable and proficient in. These topics include: basic shop and equipment handling and safety procedures, proper documentation of repair orders, preventative maintenance inspections, air brakes inspections and repairs, tire services, suspension maintenance, and hydraulic component maintenance and repairs. Upon completion of this certificate, students will be prepared to take their T4, T5, and T8 ASE certifications.
Certificate of Achievement Level Student Learning Outcomes
Students completing the Heavy Truck Maintenance Certificate of Achievement will:
1. Demonstrate knowledge of basic shop safety
2. Properly document repair orders
3. Complete preventative maintenance inspections
4. Demonstrate proficiency in servicing and repairing air brake systems
5. Properly inspect and repair truck suspension systems and tires.
6. Properly inspect and repair vocational truck hydraulic systems.
