Catalog Course Description

This course is an overview of environmental issues in a municipal setting. Topics include water quality, watershed management, integrated waste management, air pollution control, regulatory compliance, sustainability, and related issues. 54 lecture hours.

Course Objectives

  • Develop a program that would reduce green house gases, choose most appropriate and cost effective methods, technologies, and products
  • Calculate cost effectiveness of environmental technologies, products, and methods, and evaluate appropriations to specific projects
  • Identify the various regulatory agencies and explain their authority and purview as regulators in the Public Works industry
  • List and define various pesticides and explain the proper ways to use, store and clean up
  • Identify and describe operational procedures, including examples of Best Management Practices
